GIFT TIP: Folk-Inspired Playing Cards

Gather your family and friends for a card game featuring blue-and-white illustrations by Zuzana Osako, and test your knowledge of Czech folk traditions. With each round, you’ll master the basics just in time for the second, slightly more advanced series.The first series of this cultural trivia game was introduced last year by Zuzana Osako, in collaboration with the South Moravian Tourist Authority and colleague Věra Colledani. The project will ultimately feature three series of 30 cards each, spanning three levels of difficulty. Each card presents a question with multiple-choice answers on one side, and a beautiful illustration revealing the correct answer on the other.The questions were crafted by historian and ethnologist Věra Colledani, a prominent advocate for traditional crafts. The graphic design was handled by Luigi Osako, Zuzana’s eldest son. A recurring motif throughout the game is the "Oak Leaf," a historic pattern from the traditional Strážnice Blueprint (modrotisk). Each set of cards comes in a pouch made from this authentic blueprint fabric. One of the cards also features a QR code, leading you to discover more about the intangible cultural heritage of the South Moravian Region.
